Sinathir 0.40 - Faction system and QoL improvements


New version is finaly here, even though it is not as content packed as I'd like it to be. First of all...

Old saves

Your older saves WILL WORK, but be ready for some weird behavior if you finished some of the church quests. The shouldn't crash, but there are some things that I deffinitely forgot to add to existing saves to make them 100% compatible. If you can, finish your current save and keep interacting with church quests to the minimum.

Faction system

Faction system, at its core, is quite simple. You encounter a faction and it gets added to your fation list (Access it from the status menu. Switch between relationship / description text by pressing SHIFT).

This screen shows you your faction rank, standing points and a short description of your rank and description. Church is currently the only faction in the game using this new system.

Church update

The process of joining the church faction has beem changed. 

Once you trigger the cutscene with Zach and Helena, you will have to talk to the palading in front of the Riverstone Inn. He will give you a simple non-combat task. Finishing it will let you enter the church and talk to Helena and Zach like you could in previous versions. You also gain new job and interacting with shrines also increase your faction standing.

Once you get enough faction standing, you will get a mail (mailbox is in front of your hideout). Read the mail and you will get the Bloodstone quest, like you did before. The rest is the same.

Again, this is just a beginning. Next updates will flesh this system out and add more factions.

Combat backgrounds

Most locations now have new combat backgrounds. These were AI generated and will serve as a nice placeholders. Much better than black backgrounds some locations had.

Random battle music

First of all, the music isn't perfect. It's not bad, but it doesn't fit the game very well. Finding free and good music is probably the hardest thing asset wise.

The game will pick a random combat track at the start of every battle, hopefully making repeated combat encounters more bearable.

New main menu

Main menu has been updated to fit with the rest of the game. The main addition though is the continue button.

Picking "continue" will load the latest save you made out of all your characters, so you don't have to go through the profile and save file screens.

And that's all. I wanted this patch to be bigger, but RL kept getting in the way. Next patch will focus on improving and expanding systems and content that is already in the game. More dialogue, more factions, more jobs and so on. 

As always, report any bugs you find here or in the forum. I will get to them as soon as I can. If something breaks and makes it impossible to continue playing, you can always download older version and continue playing.
