Progress update
Just thought I'd let you know how things are progressing.
I worked on features from the list and as as it usualy is, I ran into some problems. Not technical, but design problems. Most of these have been dealt with and now I'm going to tell you how.
1.) Bandit NPCs
All things went pretty smooth with these. Right now, they are pretty simple. They appear at predetermined spots every few weeks and stand around. If they spot the player, they will chase after him. They are slower than kobolds or animals, so running away is usualy not a problem. If they catch you, They will ask for about 1/10 of your money. You can pay and they dissapear, or you can refuse and fight them. Simple.
However, there was one small problem. I thought that "evil" characters should be able to butcher killed bandits and get some meat and leather. However, I wanted there to be some difference between animal meat and humanoid meat, but I didn't want to duplicate all cooking recipes and make the crafting window more cloged. So I came up with a solution. Alternate recipes.
Now I can make slightly altered versions of each recipe and player can switch through them with a button. It is not perfect yet, as it's missing some QoL features, but it works and will be good enough for initial version.
2.) Resourcess to collect along major roads
Nothing to report here. This took me about two minutes to do. It will need more testing and balancing, but that's it.
3.) Personal fast travel upgrades
Added another upgrade and now you can have three separate fast travel spots. However, fast travel is still too OP, so I decided to add some cost to it. From now on, you will have to pay some food every time you use fast travel both from the menu and the sign posts.
This should make people explore more at the start of the game. Relying on fast travel makes people miss random events too often. The price of fast travel increases, starting from 1 and increasing by 1 for every year.
4.) Shortcuts that can be unlocked
To compensate for above, I added more shortcuts you can unlock with right items (Mostly rope). This will make traveling to key spots fast and less time consuming. I will add one more and that should be enough for this update.
That is all I have finished. I still have to finish NPC camp spots and add some random events. Can't really say how long it will take though.
