Next patch voting results


It has be a month since the last blog post, so it is time to look at the results of the poll. I closed it so you can't vote anymore, but you can still check the results your self if you click on the link in the previous post. 

So. Here are the results:

As you can see, dating system is the winner. So this is the main feature I will be focusing on in the upcoming weeks. I have some concepts ready. If you want to know more, be sure to continue reading.

About the system

Firstly, "Dating system" is a working name. The final feature will be called something like "hangout" or similiar. This system will allow you to use some of your resourcess to gain a lot of bonus mood points and increase your relationship with major NPCs.

Dating encompases array of different activities. From inviting someone for a beer, to goint on a full blown date ending with some love-making.

Now first and foremost, I don't want this to turn into a "adult" game, so there will be no nudity and any intercourse will be solved simply by fading to black. Some of these activities will also require you to be of certain age so don't worry. This game will still be generaly safe-for-work.

Dating will be disabled at the start. After spending one year at the island, you will unlock some basic hangout options and get the date bar. This resource will be used while going on a date and will recover every week by a certain amount.

Dates will have multiple stages and you will be able to end them before all of the stages are finished. For example, you can invite someone for a beer in the local tavern and then go home. Or you can invite someone for a lunch, then have some wine, watch a movie, dance and end it all by love confession.

The longer the date, the bigger mood and relationship boost you get, but you will also have to spend more date points, money, items and so on. You will have to decide if you want to invite different people to have a nice chat at a beach every few weeks, or if you want to take someone to a expensive hotel once a year. Short dates will give you small bonuses, but you can repeat them more often and can use them to make more different people like you. Bigger dates will give you larger bonuses than multiple small dates, but they will cost more, can't be repeated too often and there is more oportunities to mess up.

Different people will react differently to your offers and might get ofended if you choose bad date options. Maybe the person you are talking to hates alcohol. Maybe he hates mutants. Maybe he doesn't like you hanging out with all the different people. Chosing bad option in the first stage of a date won't really harm your relationship, but failing in later stages might be more severe. Offering to sleep with a married person who loves his significant other is not a good idea. Offering someone a coffee when he doesn't like it very much is not as big of a problem.

This is pretty much it. Ofcourse, this is just a concept. It is quite possible that I will change some things after I implement them because they might not work as well as I thought so keep that in mind.

So, the plan for next patch is:

  • Fix some bugs
  • Implement all the main features of the date system
  • Implement some basic options for the date system
  • Implement date option for atleast two major NPCs

That should be it. I don't know how long is this going to take, but hopefuly less than a month.
