March report

Another month, another report. This might have been my most productive month ever, as you can see from the compiled changelogs at the bottom of this post. Larger additions and changes are bold so you can see them more easily. I will now go through these a little.

Added new trait that gives you a wolf companion

You can now start with a weaker companion to assist you right from the start. He is always in your hideout and doesn't require any relationship to follow you. You will need to give him raw meat to make him follow you though. The trait also gives you some meat at the start.

Ranged weapon improvements

I reworked some parts of ranged weapons by removing the invisible stat bonuses you get from them and replacing them with completely new "Accuracy" and "Speed" stats. Accuracy gives you a hit chance bonus and speed makes your action bar fill faster. Basicaly, it is now easier to hit your enemies with rifles and shotguns, even with very little weapon skill and fast firing weapons like SMGs or pistols will now fill your action bar faster, so you can attack more often. On top of that, I buffed all ranged weapon damage ranging from 20% to 100%. This should make ranged weapons much stronger and useful. This will need more balancing, but should be good enough for now.

Added enemy stat screen to combat

Quite a simple addition that was requested multiple times. When you are selecting an enemy to attack, press SHIFT. This will show you the stats of the enemy you are aiming at. Their current hit points, attack, deffence and more. The stats you can see are tied to the new bestiary system I'm going to talk about later.

Added simple world map

Many people said that they are getting lost at the start of the game, so I added a simple world map. It shows your current location, location of NPCs you befriended and aproximate exit locations.

Added workout system

This is another half day activity. Find or buy workout equipment and use it to raise your stats and wellness.

Added new bestiary system

Quite a big change. You can find it in the DIARY option in the menu screen. This will show you information about enemies you killed. The more enemies you kill, the more information you get. After the first kobold kill for example, you will get a name added to the list. Every few kills, you new information will get added, like max HP, attack, item drops, stats and a short description.

Not only does it tell you how strong enemies are and what they drop, it also tells you how many you killed. Only kills made by the main character count. This also ties to the stat menu in combat. If you can see a stat in bestiary, you can see it in combat.

Wow, good work! It's been forever since I had a chance to check this out, and you've made a ton of progress since then. I'm hoping to get a chance to try the new version soon!

It's still going to take some time, but the new dungeon will be important step in making original graphics for the rest of the game. Tilesets first, characters after that.

Tilesets for the dungeon are almost finished. I want to do some more furniture and then I will have to make some special objects tied to this specific dungeon. Shouldn't take too long.
