Sinathir 0.33 - New dungeon and treasure system
This version adds the new treasure system I talked about in previous blog post and a small dungeon to go with it. Lets get into details.
New dungeon
This is a very simple and small dungeon. No gimmics and no tricks. You can find it in the are with the bridge guard. Just cross the bridge and and you will find it.
New treasure system
This system was put in place to limit the amount of RNG in the game. Simply put, you will now always know what items you find in a dungeon. The downside is that you will find less loot on average.
The way it works is pretty simple. You go to a dungeon and open chests. Opening them gives you "luck" points and shows you the loot screen.
You can see all the items you can get in the left column. Right column shows you item description and top row shows you your luck points and how many chest in the dungeon you opened and how many are still left.
Picking an item will give it to you instantly and take away some luck points. But you can also close the window without picking anything and you can keep the luck point you got from opening that chest.
This means you can open multiple chests and not pick anything, which will let you acumulate luck points so you can pick more expensive items later. Bear in mind that all the chests are one use only. Once it is opened, it can't be opened again. Doesn't matter if you picked something from it or not. Chests and the entire dungeon get refreshed at the start of each week and so do your luck points, so you must spend them in the same week you got them.
This system is unbalanced right now. Prices and item numbers are not final yet and only the new dungeon uses this system. I want you to try playing through this small dungeon and then try one of the old dungeons and tell me if you like the new system more than the old one. Converting old dungeons to the new system will be quite quick and easy.
Older versions
Here are the changes I did in previous minor versions that didn't get their own blog post.
Reworked job / training success system:
This new system completely removes RNG from working and training. The number of successful days is now always equal to the "total" number you see before you even start. This will make working less frustration and will remove any need for saving / loading before and after work if you get bad results.
Bug fixes:
- Fixed a crash when training with Mr. White
- Fixed crash when training
Next version
Next thing I want to focus on will be the faction system. Starting with the church.
This will be quite simple system. Once you join a faction, you will unlock some simple activities that will increase your relationship. For the church faction, this will be lighting candles on shrines near roads.
As your rank increases, you will unlock more and more activities. Second rank will allow you to bless people and third rank will allow you to collect tithes.
There is one thing that will make factions different from other games, like the elder scrolls series for example. In Sinathir, being a member of a faction will also give you some duties.
Once a month, you will receive a quest. These will be quite simple and will change with each rank you gain. First rank will have quests like putting recruitment posters in Riverstone, cleaning trash around the village or helping at a sermon. Second rank quests will be things like delivering alcohol or preaching at the village center and so on.
If you don't do those quests when you get them, you will lose faction points. Lose enough and you might get demoted or even kicked out of the faction. This will make you feel like an actual part of a group and not just someone who shows up to do the faction activities when he feels like it.
Ranking up is also simple. Doing the activities or quests for the faction will give you points. Get enough and you will get offered a quest. Finish it and you will rank up, which will unlock new activities, items and other benefits.
These are my plans. Things might change, those things I talked about sound good on paper. so I doubt there will be any great changes.

well there should be exceptions to those rules like lets say if you become leader of the faction somehow you shouldn't be required to do it but if you dont show up sometimes people wont respect you as the leader if you never show up
Faction leadership will be something entirely different. Instead of getting these jobs, you will be giving them out. If you don't, your faction will be less successful and other faction members might try to take the power from you.
That said, you won't be able to lead every faction. Most factions will only allow you to become the second in command and you will get promoted into a leader position in one of the ending sequences, or in the post game.
